Montepulciano + Vino Nobile

By Kate Duda & Andrew Nip & Celeste Pang

Originally an Etruscan settlement, this Tuscan hilltown carries the centuries long tradition of producing the internationally-known Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, one of three wines that are produced within Tuscany (Chianti and Brunello being the other two). For the town of Montepulciano, identity of the community is inextricably linked to authenticity of place and the wine and other products that are produced in the area. Within the town, the Italia gruppos have visited wineries such as Poliziano and Gattavecchi, the coppersmith Cesare Mazzetti and have eaten at the Osteria Acquacheta.
