Ernesto Gismondi + Artemide Factory Tour

After studying aeronautical and missile engineering in Milan and Rome, Ernesto Gismondi founded Artemide with his companion Sergio Mazza in 1959. Since its inception, the Artemide Group has developed and produced many iconic lighting devices in collaboration with numerous designers such as the Tolomeo by Michele de Lucchi and the Tizio by Richard Sapper.

Due to his pioneering design spirit, Gismondi ranks among the leading figures in the international design scene with the Artemide Group by generating lighting devices of the highest standard. For Gismondi, Design means planning for people, for the quality of the environments where they live and work. He feels that people must be given the best conditions possible and that includes lighting. Highly prestigious confirmation of Artemide’s expertise in the world of lighting manifests itself in the form of countless awards and honours presented to the Artemide Group, including the Compasso d’Oro on several occasions.
