Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino

Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino (http://www.designswarm.com/) is an industrial and interaction designer originally from Canada. She completed a Master’s degree in Interaction Design from the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in Milan, where she met Massimo Banzi and co-founded Tinker (http://www.tinkerlondon.com) in 2007 with him. Tinker is a multidisciplinary design studio that focuses on how open-source software and hardware can aid individuals and organizations. They have worked with clients such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson, and BBC Research & Development to develop products and services. Tinker also holds workshops showing people the possibilities with open-source platforms such as Arduino.

Deschamps-Sonsino has worked on projects for clients such as Vodafone, Blast Radius, and Droog design, and is an active speaker on the growing opportunities for DIY problem solving through design with the help of new technologies.

italiaDesign is an undergraduate field school and research program offered by the School of Interactive Arts + Technology (SIAT) at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. italiaDesign is a sister program to
